Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic therapy treatment where the therapist uses her thumbs and fingers to apply pressure to the client's feet or hands.
In reflexology we believe that the feet is the mirror of the body. All organs, systems and glands of the body can be mapped onto pressure points on our feet called reflex points. A reflexologist knows how to stimulate the reflex points in order to bring about a response in the corresponding part of the body.
Reflexology is based on the ancient Chinese theory that energy is flowing all around our bodies. If the energy is well balanced it will be able to flow freely and you will feel balanced and healthy. If the energy is obstructed, illness may result. Usually, after a treatment you might feel your tension has been reduced and you might even feel relaxed, your sleeping pattern might improve as well as your mood and sense of well-being. You may also find that other aspects improve too; however, this happens on an individual basis.
Fertility reflexology
The advantage of a reflexology treatment for fertility is that it won't be treated in isolation. Instead, the overall health of the whole person is addressed during the treatment, which means the hormones will be balanced and stress levels will be tackled too. The dad to be might be recommended to have reflexology done as well, after all there's two people involved with making a baby. The Association of Reflexologists gathers feedback from their members, and it indicates that over 50% of clients seeking reflexology in connection with conception find themselves pregnant within six months.
Pregnancy reflexology
Reflexology is wonderful in pregnancy, it not only relaxes you but gives you the advantage of having a two for one treatment as your growing baby can be felt and even seen on the foot too. Your reflexologist and you will decide together whether reflexology in the first trimester is suitable for you or not. Once you have passed your first trimester, having reflexology will be the best decision to make, as the benefits are uncountable. Not only will reflexology help you with a smoother labour but it will get your body relaxed and ready for the big day.
The therapist may even be able to feel the baby growing - first as a little tadpole, and then you yourself may be able to see a growing bulge on the inner side of your foot, just above the heel, maybe larger on one foot than the other.
